EMFULENI MUNICIPALITY CAUSING SAFETY HAZARDS

My underground main power supply cable broke in January and I phoned to report it at the local municipality. They came the next day and brought a cable that they connected to my neighbour's main power supply cable. This cable is running above the ground across my entire yard, as well as my neighbour's yard. We were told that this would take 2 weeks to fix the underground cable, however it has been over 3 months and every time I phone to enquire about them coming to repair my cable, I am told that they have a problem with the sub-station and that they prioritise that over all other repairs. There are cars that drive over this cable on a daily basis, as there is no way around it, both myself and my neighbour have small children that play outside and I am afraid that if this cable gets damaged over time, that this could endanger the lives of our children. It is an inconvenience not only to myself, but to my neighbour, who is wanting to call an electrician to unplug the cable from his electrical supply, meaning that I will be left without electricity. It is unacceptable that something that was supposed to be temporary is taking so long to be repaired & I'm getting no response!
