Funeral claim

Good day I have submitted a claim with emerald the policy number is(CA***C) bt the results came back as declined, they say reason being declined is that i am not close enough to be a family member of the deceased we are taking care of her child with my in laws as i am married to his ***friend side(father of her child). I am failing to understand why these policies are failing us in the last day because i have paying this policy for over 3 years and now am in debt they don't wanna pay me my funeral claim.
