Terrible event venue

I booked the conference centre for my brother in laws 50th birthday party. I had to keep following up with the event planner at the resort , it didn't look like he had any interest in the function at all . I should have seen this as the first red flag. We had 5 rooms booked for guests and family and paid quiet a handsome price for the conference room as well . When we arrived at the venue the staff knew off the function but had no idea what the plans were. I arrived late Friday and on Saturday morning learned that the event planner who I dealt with does not work on weekends and did not share any of the details with the weekend staff. The decor provider who was a referral of the even planner didn't even put up table for the cake or even have a table or chair for the birthday boy, we had no main display at all. I found myself running around to arrange this on my own on Saturday and had family members pitch in at the last moment to set up the stage area for as we only had table settings and for the guests and nothing else. This costed me additional funds that I had to cover at the last moment and even thought the weekend staff tried to get things sorted it just wasn't enough. I had no time for me to get ready and I am a mother of 2 . I found myself flustered and in disarray at the beginning of the functions and felt the amount of close to R50k paid for the weekend was a waste and spoilt what was meant to be a last family function. My brother in law and his family are immigrating and that was the last family function we had together. What was meant to be a memorable and joyous occasion for our family just left a bad after taste for me. Worst event venue ever. This event took place in February 2024. I sent an email of complaint to management the Monday after the event and have still not received even an acknowledgement. It is now July 2024. Looks that the reason the staff don't care is because they follow suit from management.
