Not secure for kids
We went to emerald casino zoo this morning 09:00 we walked pass the meerkat cage when my 5year old learned over to look at the meerkat when the 1 jumped and bit my son when we reported this to the emerald er they said it was the 3rd child for the week that was bit by a meerkat emerald should put a wire there so that the the meerkat can't jump up to bite I have to take my son to the er after hours

Emerald Resort & Casino takes every possible measure to ensure the safety and welfare of both our guests and the animals at Animal World. Some of these precautions include safety notices and secure fencing outside the enclosures warning guests to keep a safe distance from certain animals. These include the meerkats which are not domesticated animals. We have investigated this incident and are not aware of any other occurrences of this nature.
Whilst we do apologise for, and understand your distress, please keep in mind that by being too close to, or reaching into an enclosure, will cause certain animals to react in a defensive way.
