Is ambulance transport safe?

After major back surgery I was transported by Emer-g-Med from Medicity Gariep (Kimberley) to KimMed Rehab Hospital (also in Kimberley). On arrival at KimMed, one ambulance attendant got out to talk to KimMed's security officer, who was standing outside the hospital, leaving the other ambulance attendant to pull out the ambulance bed by himself. The back legs of the bed opened correctly, but the front ones did not, leaving me and the bed to crash onto the concrete.
