Motor vehicle repairs not done properly

<p>I recently had a run in with a mechanic, Matthew Ellis at Ellis motors in Witpoortjie to repair the head gasket of my car after someone failed to repair it properly.</p> <p>He fully understood what transpired and agreed to repair my car. After a week I had to take the car back for an oil leak and the fact that my car had no power.</p> <p>He then replaced the lead cables. The car was fine for a few days but did not have power. A while later the car started to overheat and I took the car back to him again. He then confirmed that the car indeed did not have power and at first indicated it was a water pump. The next day he contacted me and advised that it was not the water pump but metal hose that was leaking and he could only get the part from Hundai. When I collected my car he replaced the thermostat and metal hose as well as the cracked plug causing the loss in power.</p> <p> </p> <p>Three days later, the car struggled to start and started to overheat once again. I took the car back, he took a glimpse at the engine and advised that he can’t see anything wrong and he has other problem cars to worry about. Two days later the same happened and I took the car back again for overeating.</p> <p> </p> <p>The family member I refer to him advised me that he also had an oil leak on his car after the initial work was done. Eventually he took is car to someone else, only to find that silicon was used.</p> <p>I collected my car on the Saturday morning after advising him that I am taking my car for a second opinion. </p> <p> </p> <p>I was shocked to find out that the head gasket was not fixed properly and had to be re-done. I do have the new mechanic’s and engineers report confirming this. Now I have to pay an additional amount to get it repaired.</p> <p> </p> <p>I am not a mechanic and in fact a single mom who cannot afford all the wasted cost. I trusted him as a professional mechanic to do the repairs correctly and he blamed the previous guy that he messed up my car. Well that is why I took the car to him to be repaired properly and he failed at that.</p> <p> </p> <p>When I confronted him about the findings he advised that he could have done a report for me as well. Yes prior to me spending and additional amount of R1900.00 would have been nice and upon request of the invoice from Hundai for the metal hose he told me to take it up with the OMBUD.</p> <p> </p> <p>I am frustrated that I have to struggle and be inconvenienced and now have to pay someone else for his poor work. Sad that you can’t trust a so called mechanic to do a proper investigation regarding the state of the repairs required and actually fixing it. His poor service cost me an additional R 8000 which I had to borrow.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p>
