Not recommended

Elliott was a big disappointment. My goods were packed so loosely that the volume increased and I was told to pay 2,000 euros more, without any explanation. When I complained to management, the goods were finally repacked to reduce the volume, but it was done so badly that many of the clothes arrived broken or extremely wrinkled. Instead of using hangers - as the Elliott brochure promises - they had been stuffed into boxes. It will cost me quite a bit of money to get them back into shape.

Having completed our investigation, we agree that there was an underestimation of the volume surveyed and at no cost, we repacked the consignment at our storage facilities. The additional costs were thoroughly explained to you in our removal quotation and several e-mails. These additional costs were for: THC - US$ 250,00 APPROX, Port Charges - US$ 550,00 APPROX, Storage - US$ 350,00 APPROX, Duties - US$ 600,00 APPROX. All these costs could not be included in the quotation as they were estimates and we could only confirm the additional costs once the shipment had arrived at destination. As far as the wrinkled clothes are concerned, no removal company in the world would use hang pack boxes with rails because this would have increased the volume dramatically and ultimately would have cost you a lot more. The survey list from Natasha, a copy of which you have, clearly explains that the clothes would be folded and placed into normal cartons. It is virtually impossible to move clothing 12 000 miles away without some form of creasing. Not even the airlines can guarantee that your clothing will arrive in your suitcase uncreased. The brochure you are referring to is for domestic moves. There is a different brochure for international moves which has no reference to using hangers for clothes.

We sincerely apologise that you may have been inconvenienced, but believe we did everything humanly possible to accommodate your requirements.
