Elliots Mobility - Disaster Mover
We used Elliots Gauteng when we moved to the West Coast just over 2 years ago, excellent service. So when we were moving to KZN we did not even consider another removal company, what a disastrous mistake. Received a call from Cape Town branch a few days before the move re times of the vehicles. Day 1 vehicle late with no phone call explaining why late, found out afterwards they had other delivery/s to do but no communication to say running late. Day 2, vehicle to load late, again no communication re late arrival. When i phoned i was given a story that they were delayed at the weighbridge. Found out later not correct, goods for Gauteng were on the vehicle and had to be offloaded first. When the vehicle arrived other goods were on the left side of the vehicle but were advised not to worry because when the vehicle delivers in Durban our goods will be offloaded first. At the time of the initial quote rep also advised that once our goods are loaded they wont move off the vehicle until delivery to our new house. Staff loading the vehicle loaded quickly and carefully and the vehicle was full. We received a call the Tuesday morning about 9 saying their was a problem on the N3 and all transport had been diverted to the M13 which now was causing a delay with our delivery but would be there shortly. However another contractor arrived shortly afterwards and they advised the issue was with the down route on the M13 and not coming up. Another story, the vehicle did not arrive so i eventually went to the estate's gate to see if a delay at the gate. Vehicle was not there but the shuttle vehicle and the staff were waiting for the truck. I asked where the vehicle was and they did not know. The Lady in charge phoned the office and they then spoke to me saying they had other goods in front of my goods and were offloading in Pinetown first. I advised that was not possible as the vehicle was full when it left our old home. We waited until after 11 and then a 4ton arrived with some goods. I advised Elliors rep upfront a max of 3ton only on the estate. Eventually the truck arrived with the balance of the goods. Broken pot plants, hot tray handles broken, mattresses damaged, fragile marked package obviously been mistreated, glass broken. Boxes were crushed due to heavy boxes on top of light boxes, and so it continued. I sent some photos to the rep, no response, i phoned, did not answer phone. He did send a message later saying the Durban office will contact me on Wednesday morning but i rep**** not acceptable as i had said someone must come and see the damages and scratches. I requested twice the CEO email address so could send him photos of the damages, no responses. Eventually i messaged saying i will take the matter further as i was not getting any response. Suddenly message to say been busy and my complaint was being investigated. I asked how it was being investigated if no one has the full details from us. My husband had to eventually stop the offloading as things were being dumped all over the show and totally diorganised. We are still missing a box, but advised Lady Supervisor that maybe at the back of the garage where we cannot see what is there because they were just dumping things down. I said once we have unpacked we will confirm if the box is still missing. Today is Thursday and still no phone call or anyone coming to see the issues. I will never recommend Elliots Cape Town and Durban, absolutely shocking customer service. Use a smaller, cheaper company and the service can only be better.
Receipt of your complaint is acknowledged with thanks. You will appreciate my dismay and disappointment to learn of your recent bad experience with Elliott from St Helena Bay, Western Cape to Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal especially considering your previous move with Elliott from Gauteng to Western Cape was such a good and pleasant experience.
Of course, there is no excuse for the fact that your full expectations of our service on your most recent move with Elliott were not met and I have no hesitation in conveying to you our most sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused. You may rest assured, however, that this matter will be treated by us with the utmost gravity in our sincere determination to prevent repetition and to provide only the very best possible service for our customers.
I believe our Operations Manager in Durban (Alastair Goldstone) visited your residence in the morning on Friday 6 May 2022 to assess the damage. I have also asked my Branch Manager: Coastal Operations (Paul Benzie) to contact you to see what we can do to assist you.
However, should you require my personal involvement or attention to any any other matter, even at this stage, please do not hesitate to contact me on ***.
With best wishes,
Sincerely,
Brad Barker
