surge protect warranty

After recently buying a surge protector, my phone and pc blew after being plugged into it. I filled in a claims form and sent the damaged goods to Ellies for investigation. Only to find out they couldn't find evidence of a surge anywhere and therefore the claim was null and void. We then sent the damaged goods to a certified technician, who found evidence of a surge immediately. We had to pay a technician for his labour because Ellies refused to honour their warranty agreement (or the technicians are *********** )
