Expensive Liquid Eyeliner (WHAT A WASTE)

When doing my makeup shopping, I was convinced by one of the sales ladies at Edgars to purchase a Elizabeth Arden Liquid eyeliner as it would last minimum a year and, and, and... I paid R400 for it and after using it for +- 1 month it started getting little lumps in and the top part where the stick turns in cracked. Since then i stopped using it. I'm sure you know what it is like trying to put liquid eyeliner on with lumps in... To find out that this item is now half the price. I wonder why!. I did speak to someone regarding returning it and i was told it was not possible. I honestly think this is not fair and would like a refund! Their after i have purchased a much cheaper make liquid eyeliner and i am very happy with it!!!
