Charging for subscription I did not authorise

I have been trying to get hold of Elite Singles with very little luck. I have not used the service for the last month and until today, did not log into the account. On the 11th I saw that there was a credit card payment pending from Elite Singles. I did not approve this payment. I only subscribed for 3 months and nothing more. I do not expect the company to take money that is not owed to you. It is rather dishonest to put an automatic renewal on my credit card and not even give me the option to cancel the subscription without incurring charges for services that I am not using.
