Hit over the head by Elite Rescue

<p>I was phoned by an agent of Elite Rescue, offering me an insurance to cover the "gap" if I should be hospitalised and my medical aid does not cover all expenses. I was interested and asked the agent to furnish me with particulars so that I could consider taking out the insurance. Specifically, I asked her whether the scheme would contribute towards tooth implants, as I needed to have two done. NB: She answered that that could be looked into and possibly a plan worked out.</p> <p>The agent insisted on having all my details, including banking details. She maintained that she could not send me the required information unless she had all my details on her computer. I overrode my misgivings and provided her with my banking details, emphasising all the time that I did not want to join unless I had studied the benefits, etc. and saying that I would want to sign a document before they could consider me a new customer. The moment she had my account number she changed her tune about certain information which I had asked for over the phone: contribution towards tooth implants were out of the question as that did not entail hospitalisation. Also, no health conditions older than two years would be taken into account. This made me very suspicious.</p> <p>I phoned the call centre afterwards and found that she had already activated my membership, and I would have been debited from the end of November onwards. The call centre person cancelled my membership immediately and warned me that contracts can be entered into telephonically these days. That may be so, but this agent acted in very bad faith, knowing full well that I first wanted to think about taking out such an insurance.</p> <p>I am furious at such ********* selling behaviour and wish Elite Rescue to know this.</p> <p> </p> <p>Monika Rohlwink</p> <p> </p>
