No Refund and No Service was received.

I signed up with this company in 2016, when they promised to assist me with debt mediation for my accounts. Within few months of signing the documents and arranging a stop order for R6,698.00 against my account, I immediately got assistance from another source that managed to assist me with a better offer than Elite. I then cancelled my contract with them and unfortunately forgot to cancel the Stop Order. From 2016 to 2018, I used a different Bank account and never had money paid to Elite. In December 2018, I changed back to my original Bank and since I forgot about the stop order, I was shocked to see the R6,698.00 off my account. I struggled to get Elite to assist me, as I was always given different telephone numbers. After many follow ups, they responded and told me that they will not refund me. My question is, how is it that a contract was signed in 2016 and no money was paid, until 2018 when they received my money and told me that according to the agreement that will go to Lawyers fees. I am not going ahead with the Mediation, so which Lawyers are going to be paid to assist me. I feel that they just won't refund me because they are a company that takes advantage of people who are in need of help to sort out their financial problems. My money is gone, but I never received any service/assistance. The response was bad, not signed and not so professional, which proved that they were just too happy to have received a free R6k from me for December. It was so sad because I need that money to pay for my Daughter's school fees and Elite refused to pay me back. A lot of people who are in desperate situations to sort out their finances, may fall into a trap of this company, but I really hope that they check and verify the companies credentials before they sign up for any services.
