Elegant Tiles / Katekani ****** Serious warning of *****ulent actions.

<div>This review is to make the public aware of Elegant Tiles and owner Katekani ****** and what took place with our agreement to supply us with tiles so you can make an informed decision. The information below is a summary and we have stated our opinion and facts. Elegant Tiles, Owner, Katekani ******, Company Elegant Tiles PTY LTD, Registration number ***, has committed theft with intent by means of not supplying our tile order that was paid in full. Katekani ****** was referred to us by our builder as a reliable and trustworthy supplier, we then engaged to utilise his services to order tiles for our renovation. Tiles were selected, quoted and Elegant Tiles owner informed us that the next shipment will arrive end of August and will be available 2 days on arrival at the Durban port. Katekani ****** informed us that we will need to pay in full for the consignment so he can secure the tiles with his tile wholesalers or there is no guarantee he can secure, which we did on the 4 September 2023. We paid in full (R105K) as we needed the tiles asap to not delay the renovations, we trusted this request as we had received a strong recommendation by our builder, otherwise we would have only paid the deposit as with all our other contractors/suppliers. Then the problems started with numerous excuses, in summary below, • He informed us there were delays at the port for a week and we continued to follow up. • We contacted Katekani ****** and informed him we cannot wait any longer, he then informed us that the wholesaler had allocated our paid order to another project and do we want to choose another tile. • We declined and requested a refund, he agreed and he would pay the full refund into account within 3 days. • This then led to various versions of excuses over the next month and passing blame to the wholesalers, ie they only refund at end of the month etc • Katekani ******, after numerous discussions then admitted to using our payment to fund another clients order • He promised to pay, weeks/months went by with no payment. • Key to note, through this whole period he does not communicate, unless we do. We have actioned the following after we exhausted all other options, • Letter of Demand was issued, he agreed to payment terms – defaulted. • Numerous attempts to rectify the situation, including meeting to discuss at SAPS. • Opened a case of theft with intent at SAPS. Status: Elegant Tiles, Katekani ****** is still operating his business (business premises as per his company details is not in operation). In February, with no communication he paid approx. 17% back, we engaged again and requested what his intentions were, he stated he would come to us, as of 29 August 2024 no further communication.</div>
