Lack of professionalism or no customer care
I was in Sibasa and I filled my tank. The petrol attendent's (no tag) service was excellent, everything about it was good. I then went into the shop to buy something and I regretted making my stop there. The supervisor (no tag) noticed that something was wrong and he came out to ask what had happened. I explained and we then went to the office of the manager (no tag). Matodzi was called in but she took her time, and she was called for the second time.
I explained my side of the story and she said she did not mean it like that, and to some parts she disputed. What really annoyed me was her telling me she would beat me and that she would not be disrespected by a child who doesn't even have a child. All of this emanated from her refusing to sell a bottle of water through the window to someone who had no mask. I know the person so I decided to help him, in doing so, I asked her why she wouldn't help and she said she would not help him because she also got out of her home being suffocated by a mask so he must do the same. I then told her that some other filling stations sell through the window if someone forgot their mask, just as a way of caring to the customer then she said it is not how it's done at Elegant. This is when altercations begun. That sentence provoked Matodzi to tell me that she will not be spoken to (in that manner), by a child who does not have a child (as if she knows me personally or is certain I don't have kids or if I don't, why I don't have them).
I informed her that I would be reviewing her conduct and she said it's fine. I went on to say that I hope it'll help you to have customer care because this is not how business must be run. She didn't stop, neither did I cease to retaliate. Amongst many things, Matodzi said she would beat me. In her defence she said I didn't hear her well and that she meant that she would discipline me as a child, jokingly. I told her that I am not her child. Is this the kind of image you want to portray as a brand?
Going to the managers office showed me that there are internal problems and it explains why Matodzi can speak to me like this, or refuse to assist the other guy from the window. I'm saying this because Gilmore was called in as a witness and before being dismissed, she walts out from the managers office. That's when I knew that neither the manager or the supervisor had control of their junior staff.
All that I want from this is to help Matodzi and Gilmore understand that they are at work, to WORK and to do it in a professional manner. Nobody is doing the other a favour.
I hope that ill behaviors can be rectified. It was nothing personal but if someone attacks me on a personal level, I will definitely retaliate.
