No Sparks!

With the recent rains, I began to experience some tripping of the mains on the distribution board. Come the weekend I started doing some basic fault finding, however could not locate the problem.

Unrelated to my troublehsooting attempts, the problem just seemed to be getting worse over the course of the day, which I put down to some sort of seeping based on my preconception of it being moisture related.

By 18h00, the main earth leakage would not stay up for longer that a second :-(!

I have a range of responses to unknown/untrusted tradespeople, from mistrust to utter disdain to I wish I could locate them again and...:-0, due to my experiences in having to deal with them over the years and my experience of shoddy workmanship. Anyways, desperate times and all that, I started locating an electrician using my phone as no other power available, and electro surgeon came up in my results. I have used them before for a compliance certificate for a property I was selling and the experience had seemed OK. As such I gave them a call.

The call was answered promptly, the relevant problem explained and details exchanged, and an electrician named Daniel dispatched, who arrived within about 45 minutes.

Daniel is quite slow and methodical, and as such located an issue relatively quickly, repaired it, and upon testing found this not to be the root cause, and so carried on looking. This took a while, but the problem was located, properly, and repaired, properly.

About a week later and no issues, all working as it should be.

Quite expensive but I think quite reasonable for a Saturday night, and especially given the ******y that can be experienced at the hands of some of the lone rangers out there, with poor quality workmanship to boot.

I had to pay before the contractor left, which is one of my unfavourite things given past experiences, but they do now carry a mobile card device for direct payment, and I was aware of their location upon doing so.

So all in all, well done, good to know options such as Electro Surgeon exist for electrical works.
