Worst travelling coach ever.
My luggage was taken in and placed in a compartment specifically for passengers going straight to Cape Town/Bellville, and a tag was given to me as a means of identifying my luggage when I arrived at my destination (please see an attached scan of my tags with luggage numbers). My travel baggage was no longer there when I arrived in Cape Town, much to my dismay. I recall seeing a bag that was nearly identical to mine, and I suppose the owner mistook mine for his or hers. At this point, I doubt it was a mistake because he should've noticed it as soon as he got home and brought it back, I believe he took advantage of the situation and stole my bag.
I told the driver my bag wasn't in the compartment, and he told me to report to the office. Before going to the office, I asked him if it wasn't his job to open the compartment as soon as the bus stops at each destination for passengers to collect their luggage according to their tags, but he never responded, and I thought it was rude of me to ask. My rage overtook me. I took the other bag, which was similar to mine, to the office. In comparison to mine, the bag was really light. There isn't a lot of stuff inside.
When I reported the incident to the office in Cape Town, I was told to wait a week because the person who "mistakenly" took my bag might realize it as soon as he or she returns home and report back. A week later, the person had not returned. I've followed up on multiple occasions since then. While I was following up, I was informed that an SMS regarding my bag had been sent to all passengers. Still, no one has come forward.
I was then told to present (bring forward) receipts for everything in my bag and fill out a claim form for my ****** luggage, which I did. There were some items in my bag for which I didn't have receipts. Thank God they were jerseys I had recently purchased online, for which the receipts were fortunately emailed to me. After completing the claims forms, I was once again told to wait for the outcome of an investigation into a case of carelessness, but nothing has transpired so far, except from the sms that was initially issued to passengers asking them to return my luggage if they had taken it "inadvertently."
There is no answer when I call your call center. I'm particularly upset and wounded since I'm a student, and everything I've fought for over my four years as a student was gone in the hands of your drivers in seconds, it's windy here, Cape Town is cold, I don't have a jersey to wear, and my tablet, to mention a few. I work as a library assistant from 16h00 to 22h00, and when I leave work, the strong winds have a nasty habit of getting the best of me. There has been no reaction to date. It's been a full month since i;ve been wounded by this incident. Winter is around the corner too.
