Very disappointed in this company

Single worst consumer experience of my life. I would avoid this company at all costs. They fail miserably on issue resolution, business ethics and owner responsibility. Elaine's Blinds installed Kleenscreen roller blinds in my apartment on 23 April 2026 that made me ill. The PVC-based product off-gassed excessively in the direct sun exposure of my apartment, making them unfit for the disclosed purpose. I was not warned of the PVC content ahead of purchase. The blinds were removed within 4 days due to an adverse physical reaction. The company has retained both the product and my deposit of ***. On 17 June 2026, they issued a formal demand for payment in full for a product I don't possess and that made me ill. I patiently tried resolving the matter with company representatives — the owner, Elaine, has refused to speak with me directly for six months. I even tried sample alternatives, for which they overcharged me with no prior written quote. I filed an active complaint with the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud on 19 June 2026, under a complaint category the Ombud classifies as Harmed by Product (Health and Safety). Here we are in September with no resolution.
