MISLEAD AND **** TO

On the 29th of July 2017 I made contact with Justin at El Shaddai Removals to get a quote for removal services from Johannesburg to Cape Town. I requested 5 referrals and phoned each one of them. These were people who moved to Cape Town, Natal and the Eastern Cape. All of them were happy with their services. El Shaddai Removals would not accept a 50 % deposit upfront, but insisted on 100 % payment upfront. I tried to negotiate to pay them the difference on delivery, but was told in that case my furniture would not be insured. I took out insurance with them and was told and invoiced that my furniture was insured for R150 000.00. The agreement was that El Shaddai would transport my furniture down to Cape Town and store it until the 3rd of August 2017. They would then deliver my furniture in the same condition as it was loaded. They arrived 3 days late as the warehouse would not deliver my furniture as El Shaddai has not yet paid them. After a few phone calls, they finally arrived with my furniture 2 days later in a shocking condition. Most of the boxes were wet, had holes in and traces of sand inside. I immediately phoned them to find out what happened and if the truck was in an accident. They denied everything and said that I am insured and after opening all my boxes, I need to send them photos and they will submit an insurance claim. Nothing was done and after a few phone calls, I was told that there is no insurance and that it would be handled in-house. This was shocking news as I confirmed upfront that I had taken out insurance through them. To my horror they offered to pay me out R2 500 next year for all damages done. I requested that they send a proper assessor out to come and inspect the damaged goods which were my fridge, TV, desk, lamp, painting and a bed. They requested quotes on all the damaged goods, which was sent to them. It is now 4 months later and nothing has been done. I trusted them with my personal goods and this is how they delivered a professional service?
