I am a tenant with Ekurhuleni Housing Company and I am extremely disappointed with the service I have received. We pay significant rent yet repairs and maintenance are repeatedly delayed or ignored. When it comes to collecting rent they act quickly, but when tenants need repairs they are painfully slow to respond. Repairs not completed or repeatedly postponed, leaving safety and living conditions compromised. Long wait times at the Chris Hani Village Germiston office; staff often do not treat tenants with respect. Poor communication and follow up requests are logged but then not actioned. Appears to prioritize rent collection over tenant wellbeing. This treatment is unacceptable. I expect timely repairs, respectful service at the office and clear communication. If Ekurhuleni Housing Company wants to be a responsible landlord, they must improve response times train staff to treat tenants respectfully, and follow through on maintenance requests.
