Gross negligence disguised as "Transit Risk" Avoid Eezi Move

If you are considering using Eezi Move, be warned: they do not care about protecting your belongings, and if they break them, they will hide behind their Terms & Conditions to avoid paying a cent.

I used Eezi Move for a relocation from Johannesburg to Cape Town. Upon unpacking, I discovered that my belongings had been treated with absolute carelessness.

The physical proof of their "service" speaks for itself.

Every single one of these items was fully wrapped in protective bubble wrap before the move. The sheer force required to snap solid wood and puncture metal through layers of bubble wrap points directly to severe mishandling and gross negligence by their packing and transit crew.

When confronted with the photographic evidence, Eezi Move's Customer Care Department formally rejected the claim, stated they consider the matter "finalised," and explicitly told me that because I didn’t pay them extra for their premium in-house wrapping service, they have no liability. Their literal response was, "Moving is risky."

Paying for a basic moving service does not give a company a license to destroy your property through reckless handling. Citing an internal insurance limitation does not exempt a professional business from its statutory obligation under the Consumer Protection Act to perform services with reasonable care and skill.

They have taken zero accountability for the destruction caused by their staff. I have escalated this matter formally to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO). Save yourself the financial loss and heartbreak, do not trust Eezi Move with your home.

P.S. The damage to the furniture doesn't even account for the state of the actual moving boxes. Standard square boxes arrived completely rounded from being crushed under heavy weight, and soaking wet. When a moving company compresses and water-logs your boxes, it’s not an "unavoidable accident", it’s a total failure of basic logistics and care.
