I paid R236,500 cash to Edyson Auto (also trading as Classic Auto at 163 Eloff Extension, Selby) for a vehicle. Within the very first week, the car showed severe mechanical issues, including a failing cooling system and a hole in the gearbox. I have now received an official technical report from the vehicle's original Manufacturer. The manufacturer's report confirms that this car was involved in a head-on collision, and given a cosmetic facelift. This facelift hid catastrophic structural and mechanical damage before being sold to me as a standard used car. I informed the dealership within the first few week of taking delivery of the then first signs of problems, overheating, with a auto mechanics report of the faults and a quote. After two , almost two months of trying to fix the overheating problem, and at least R40,000 bill later, I received a heads up via a report from the car manufacturer when I sent the car in for a diagnostic report and quote to fix the problems, that the car was involved in a head-on collision collision and given a facelift to mask it. I have their report to prove it. I then formally requested my refund under Section 56 of the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) within month two. Management is refusing to refund my R236,500 and is instead expecting me to sell the car and get a refund that way or their own solution is to do yet more repairs - which I refused due to concerns for my safety and that of my family. Potential buyers beware: this dealership is may be selling structurally compromised, dangerous vehicles and regusing to take accountability. Because they are refusing to comply with the reasonable CPA prescribed remedial action, I am now taking steps to proceed with a formal ******** complaint for non-disclosure at SAPS and escalating the matter to the National Consumer Commission (NCC). Please be careful of this dealership at all costs!!!
