After giving them another chance to rectify their previous job of not adequately sealing (they only used 3 coats of water-based sealer and after two years you could easily see the dark dirt ingress into the lighter colour wooden boards), I was quoted a discounted rate of R2450 to re-sand and seal (now with 5 coats!) my second bedroom floor. I also paid the company R700 to replace a single (I had one spare!) laminate panel in my main bedroom. I stupidly paid them in full and after they were “complete” I was horrified to discover that they had taken a large angle grinder (you can just imagine the new circular score marks!) to my second bedroom floor and they had damaged more floorboards in my main bedroom! They wanted another R4000 to rectify the situation and complete the sanding job! I flatly refused and worked with another supplier to try and remedy the new damage! I see another review about Edward’s Flooring Pty Ltd. (operating in the “Northern Suburbs of Johannesburg” walking off with their deposit) and my review should now provide others with a more holistic view. The owner of the company has much to learn about sanding and preparing floors as I have subsequently researched how to prepare wooden floors and at least three coats are recommended for solvent-based sealers and at least seven coats are recommended for any water-based sealer. I also learned that for a truly professional smooth finish; that you need to lightly sand between coats when you are using many of the solvent-based sealers (this provides a “key” for the next coat to adhere properly).
