UNFAIR AND EVIL BUSINESS CONDUCT
It took me a while to write this review as I had been trying to resolve this issue amicably. I fell pregnant in 2021 and had a difficult pregnancy at it. I physically went to the gym and told them to freeze my membership as I would not be coming in for a few months. The lady at reception who was white and big built wrote notes on the system and off I went. They kept trying to debit my account but I took it for granted that their system just goes into my account and I did not worry much because I took the time to go in physically to freeze my membership. A year later I receive a letter from AMICA telling me I owe the gym +-R4,500. I go back to the gym and was told I should have cancelled this membership on the website and was given my contract which stipulates as such. Fair enough, I decide ok this was my fault and I should have read my contract despite me being told by the receptionist that she has frozen my account. I make payment up to the amount I was told I owe. I then received a phone call from AMICA and I'm told I owe the gym R14,000. HOW????? Amica tells me that the consultant I dealt with had left the company and she should have told me to complete a form to cancel my membership in 202/2023??? HOW was that not communicated? How am I owing so much money when I have not gone to that ****** establishment in over 3 years??? BOTH EDGE FITNESS and AMICA DEBT COLLECTORS are ********* and should not be running businesses. I am utterly disgusted by the way they conduct their businesses. Every single month I have to send an email to EDGE FITNESS saying I am no longer a member and they must stop sending me emails to collect membership fees but they never stop. It seems NOBODY is equipped to assist me with this query, no matter how many times I go to the gym and call AMICA.
