During the year 2017 I entered into a year contract with the gym which ended in the year 2018, fast forward to year January 2021 I get a letter of demand with the amount of R18 493.60.

I do not not understand how I can owe this amount of money when my contract ended in the year 2018. When I called them they told me that the account was put on auto - renewal WITHOUT MY CONSENT.

1. No deduction was ever made on my bank account after the contract ended to alert me that this account is still active. 2. No one from the gym has ever contacted me regarding arrears on the account - why wait 3 years? 3. I have never used their facilities after December 2018. NO SERVICES were rendered what am I paying over 18K for?

I fail to understand how I can be expected to pay for such a large amount when my contract with the gym ended 3 years ago.
