Edge fitness free trial not so free after all

Edge fitness Moffett on Main, gave me a free trail membership for a month(May 2024), during this month I decide to join the gym then signed up. My first payment for membership were supposed to be deducted the 1 June 2024 but they deducted before hand which led me to cancelling my membership before it even started. I forwarded them an email for cancellation. Two months later I got a call from amit debt recovery agency requesting I pay the 40% cancellation fee or else I'll be summoned to appear in court.i then agree to pay R200 monthly towards this fee which I've been paying ever month since October 2024 as per my agreement with the debt recovery agency.Today 28.05.2025 I received a call from the recovery agency to inform me I owe Edge fitness R6000 excluding the monies I've paid monthly to date, after I cancelled my membership and were handed over to a debt recovery agency.
