When managers and employees LIE to customers

I went to Edgars in Sandton to open up an account. After the process of opening up the account the person who was helping me said that we needed to go upstairs for the final step. He said that because I am opening up a new account I have to choose four of the Insurance products that Edgars offers. After reading the contract that is printed on the till slip I said to him that no where in the contract does it say I need these Insurance items. He proceed to argue and say that it isn't written on the contract but I have to open it. After arguing for a while I asked him to call the manager. The manager then came and told me that I have to take four of the insurance options which would cost me an additional R105 per month (of which I need none of the plans). Eventually they said they wont add it to my account but head office will automatically add me onto them anyway. I phoned head office and they said that I did not need any of the insurance plans , " they are optional". I do not know whether the employee and manager gets commission when selling these insurance products but I think it is disgusting that they did this. They blatantly **** to me. If it weren't for a law module at University I would not have known that they have no right to force me to take those products. I am just one person , but how many other people are being force into this without knowing??? Edgars train your employees not to lie, especially managers!
