Unable to return item that i was not happy with

I purchased 2 Bobby Brown items from Sandton City Edgars this past Saturday. I had purchased an eye shadow primer and an eye shadow brush. The eye shadow primer is supposed to enhance the colour of the eye shadow and make it last the whole day but when i app**** the eye shadow over the primer i can barely see the colour of the eye shadow and the eye shadow does not last the whole day. With regards to the eye shadow brush the bristles where falling out and it makes my eyes itchy. I have tried out the product hence used it and found it not to my satisfaction. When i called Edgars asking them if i can return the 2 items and explained my dissatisfaction with the items i was asked to called Red Square because they do not stock the item there. I called Red Square Fourways yesterday and spoke to a lady by the name of Simone. I told her my experience with the items but i think all she heard was i want to return a used item. She called me back today to tell me that she had spoken to her manager and that i must call Customer Service who will be able to assist me further. This is really unexceptable. I should be able to return an item that i am not satisfied with for a full refund.
