Unable to assist

My Mother purchased a bracelet for my son as a gift but unfortunately when he got it we found it was slightly too big. My mother immediately gave me the slip and told me that the guy who sold it to her told her they would adjust it if there was any problem and that I should simply go to that department and sort it. Today 2 July 15 I took the bracelet in it's box at around lunch time with the slip to have it adjusted, but firstly I could not find anyone at the counter. I eventually got someone at a corresponding counter to assist and they found the guy who was supposed to be handling the said counter. The assistant told just go to that guy and ask him. I wondered on over and asked him if they could adjust the bracelet, but he immediately told me that they cannot adjust this type of bracelet I would have to take it to a jeweler. He consulted a colleague who agreed So I must now go and pay for a relatively inexpensive bracelet to be adjusted? I decided to simply fit the clip further up the bracelet leaving a portion hanging. I did not want to return it as it was a gift and my son liked it. Sales staff should be careful not to promise what cannot be delivered as emotion can be attached
