THE REASON WHY EDGARS IS IN THE DIRE SITUATION THAT IT IS...???

I find it totally unacceptable that since early September 2020, I have not been able to get an invoice out of Edgars for the amount of R142.13. At the stage of my initial query, I was told that Edgars is aware of the error and their team was working on a fix; and that the purchase amount was a take-on balance which reflected as a purchase; and that it would be changed from the October statement. Needless to say, this did not happen. I have addressed numerous e-mails to Edgars, made over 25 calls to Edgars holding on for over 20 minutes on each occasion - on most occasions, going from pillar to post because my query was supposedly to be addressed by other departments. I called “collections”, “accounts queries”; “customer services”; “head office”; RCS; “complaints”. At one stage, I was told that I was being put through to management, only to be told after 15 minutes, that management could not be found …!!! My calls have been “ESCALATED” I don’t know how many times. To date, I have had no communication from Edgars apart from the automated sms’s and rude letters which I am being charged for. I should charge Edgars for the calls, time, energy, etc. I am saddened because I have been an Edgars customer for approximately 35 years and never been so disappointed. There have been incidents that could be resolved, but in this case, I feel that I am in a bottomless pit and Edgars is not interested resolving any query. They are most efficient at sending out e-mails harassing their customers and threatening them with lawyers and a negative credit rating … I receive sms’s almost on a daily basis reminding me that my account of approx. R290 is overdue … (This amount has escalated due to charges for sms’s, letters, etc.) This evening (Sunday) I received an sms telling me to pay overdue amount immediately or to call the *** TODAY. Needless to say, their offices are closed despite being told to call them today. When I heard that Edgars would be retrenching staff, my heart went out to those that may be affected. I now understand why Edgars is in the financial predicament that it is. If you look after your customers, you look after yourself and your staff. You are clearly not doing that! It is so sad to walk into Edgars and see the floors deserted … Focus on the essential, i.e. keep your customers happy and business will surely improve. Edgars has lost all respect for its customers! I will no longer be supporting Edgars and will be closing my account (which I understand is another challenge). I know of quite a number of people that are trying to do so.
