The most ridiculous way to increase your credit limit

I opened my Edgars account about 20 years ago, and have never been contacted by them since to increase the initial credit limit of R3,800. I app**** for an increase in this limit today, only to wait patiently for an hour while the assistant struggled to fax copies of my payslip through their archaic system (to supply the store with a machine that can only fax/scan 1 page at a time is ridiculous). She then called the contact centre as this forms part of the procedure. She was told by the call centre agent that an application for a limit increase cannot be done, but that Edgars must send an sms to the customer to "invite" them for an increase in their limit. The customer then needs to go back to the store and have them fax/scan the supporting documents. Furious at this stupid system and the lack of Edgars ever "inviting" me over the past 20 years to increase my limit, I immediately settled the outstanding balance on my account and asked the assistant to call the contact centre again to close my account for good. This was done, but they once again have to ask the same security questions to verify that I am closing my account. After a heated argument, which Edgars can listen to via their recorded lines which are supposed to be used for training purposes (training of what because even the store assistants don't know the proper procedure in a matter like this), the account was closed. Goodbye Edgars and your ridiculous system, and at least I can save myself the monthly admin fee that you are now charging for the use of a credit facility. Let's hope that next time the creditors do not bail you out and that we can eventually see you disappear into the history books of liquidated and bankrupt companies.

It's not the branch that I have a problem with, it's your ridiculous credit limit increase process. Why after 20 years of loyalty and never missing a payment, do I have to be told that you need to invite me to apply for a limit increase? I expect a new account to be opened for me with a proper limit and not a response that blames the branch when it is your head office that's the problem.

Provide a solution.
