Terribly unnecessary attitude

I was in Edgars Bethlehem yesterday and found the last pair of silver shoes in my size on the shelf, unfortunately the shoes were damaged on the bow and looked a bit worn. I asked the till assistant whether any floor discount would be appliable as the shoes were slightly damaged. She indicated in a very abrasive tone that there would be none and they don't do that. I told her that that discretion resorts with her manager and not with her and that she needs to address this with her Manager. Herself and the Manager then discussed this in secret and she returned indicating that the Manager had said the shoes are not even damaged. My issue is not with the fact that there was no discount, but with the fact that the Manager did not even have the courtesy of coming to address me about it. If I am going to walk out of there with goods that are not on standard, could they not even provide me with the courtesy of warm apology for not being able to discount or ALTERNATIVELY order pair from another branch?... I was so desperate for the shoes that I bought cotton in that colour and repaired the shoes. A take it or leave it attitude in retail is dangerous, because next time I may leave it.
