sunglass hut
Bought the sunglasses from Edgars (Mall of Africa) on the 15th of November 2019 for R3 190. Two days later the ***** on the lens fell off. I returned the sunglasses to Edgars (Fourways Mall) on the 18th of November 2019. I was told that their policy is to first take the glasses for assessment then they would revert to me. Several follow ups were made to no avail. I decided to buy another pair of Sunglasses in December 2019. Eventually I was given a voucher to the value of R3590 for my sunglasses, when I asked them to refund/ credit my Edgars account with R3 590 they declined my request telling me that I need to buy sunglasses to the value of R3590. To me it’s like I’m being forced to buy new sunglasses that I don’t need. I understand that it is within my right to ask for a refund “Wherever the CPA entitles a consumer to a refund, it must be interpreted to mean that the consumer has the election on how to receive the refund. This means that while refunds as in-store vouchers or credits are not ******* per se, if the consumer demands a cash refund the supplier must give it to them. Also in terms of s56, the consumer (not the supplier) can decide whether to chose the refund, replacement or repair.
