Stay Away From Edgars Funeral Cover Plans.

Hi, i would advise people not to take out funeral plans with Edgars. Recently my father passed away. He used to be a loyal customer with Edgars for over 50 years and always supported them. He sold his house a few years back and went to stay with my older brother who had a cottage flat available for him after my mother passed away so basically his estate is under 250k, we all stay in the same town so we all got to visit daily. Now because he left 3 siblings behind we need a letter of authority for them to pay out the funeral cover. Note the 3 of us are very close so we do or didn't care who the policy pays out to as long as we could get it done before the funeral. The day before the funeral in the afternoon they phone and start asking for a letter of authority to be attached to all the paper work we already sent. So in the end we ended up paying for my fathers funeral. I can understand that this can be for security reasons etc. BUT if you supply them with Affidavits and Certified copy's of ID's and the Death Certificates and Marriage Certificate etc. and after all 3 siblings contacted them and said there is no dispute nor will there be among us we just need it paid before the funeral they come up with allot of excuses and then ended up saying for the last excuse that we need a letter of authority on the last second before they will pay out. This is so unprofessional and ********** business standards and i am so ashamed of Edgars and the funeral cover partner they are partnered with. Is this how you treat your loyal customers over 50 years ? The right steps was taken to get the Letter of authority but think about it ? how long does it take to get that letter ? if all the Affidavits and all other correct document's was provided ? We were so disgusted that they tell us last minute they will not pay out leaving us having to pay for something my father paid for many many years. Shame on Edgars and shame on their funeral cover partner. My mission will be to share this story for years to come on all online social platforms and warn and advise people to change and/or get different Funeral plans.
