Staff with terrible attitude

Just wasted my time taking the afternoon off to return 2 pairs of shoes that don't fit my girlfriend. I did have proof of purchase and at first was told sale items can only be returned within 7 days. Another told me within 30 days. Obviously no one is sure about the correct terms and conditions. Items were bought on 15 sept..its 2 days later. Are u going to have me keep items that are of no use to me. The arrogant behaviour of the salesperson is shocking. I was treated Iike I committed a crime or worse. Shocking behaviour from staff.
