Samsung Galaxy A03 Core - faulty and locked
Bought a Samsung A03 on 15th March - @ Brooklyn Mall Edgars. Sales man promised us that the phone wasn't locked. But he makes us RICA a MTN sim for the phone. Next day, 16th, restart the phone, now it's locked on a screen saying "Your SIM card cannot be detected or is from a service provider that isn't supported. Try using an active MTN SIM card." There are 2 MTN sim cards in the phone. Tried swapping slots of the sims. Nothing, phone doesn't want to get past the lock. Factory Reset the phone. Get in to the phone. Works for an hour. Then the Settings app doesn't work. It Closes itself each time, can't access any settings. Restart the phone. Back to the locked screen with the SIM card missing or not mtn message.
I see there are other complaints with the same issue. Not happy. Want to rather swop the phone for a different model. Not happy with the software/firmware on the phone that is modified by MTN, it seems fault. Unlocked phones from example online stores, have no issues like this.
Will return to the store today, but I need you make it clear to the store that a repair is not good enough, this phone is intrinisically messed up by the modifications and locking by MTN.
Swopped it for the same phone, but on the Vodacom network and it doesn't seem to be locked as both Sims are working with MTN.
Much better.
MTN must stop with that locking *******, because the phone isn't even cheaper than a plain original version at other stores. So what's their point, why sell a defective phone, and why stock them at all if they are just being returned.
It's a pity MTN has messed it up.
So happy the guy just got on with it and didn't suggest something that wouldn't have worked like sending it for "repairs".
My faith sort of restored.

If it's uninstalled from the play store, then the phone works great and the Settings app doesn't crash.
Please tell all your stores that that is the solution, else your store rooms are going to be filled with these devices being returned.
Also they should disable auto update on that Digital Wellbeing app so that it doesn't update by mistake.
The app store reviews for that app have hundreds of complaints about the same issue.
