Refunds cashier so cheeky

So yesterday I walk into Edgar's to return a bag my boyfriend had bought for me with receipt the cashier tells me she will give me a gift card I tell her I do not want a gift card as I want to go and get the bag directly at forever mind you the bag I am returning is a forever new bag she told she was not going to give me any money I have to deal with the unwanted bag or take the gift card, since when are you guys operating like Chinese people since when are we not given a choice of how we want to Refund things I find this very annoying please let us know before we buy that this is your policy. What do I do with this unwanted bag that I'll never in my life carry?
