Poor Customer Service

There was a special/deal on for yesterday, 1st April. Get a mystery discount voucher for the 1st April only (anything between 10 and 100%) and you won't know how much until you placed your purchase. You could either go in store and collect a scratch card voucher or you could receive a voucher code via email if you wanted to do an online purchase by subscribing to their newsletter.

I selected the online option as this was more convenient for me. I did receive a code as they said would happen in the advert so I was please this was a real deal for April 1st. When it came to the time that I was able to shop online the website was experiencing problems so I contacted Edgars via email and they responded that they were aware of the problems and it had been escalated to their IT department. I waited a while before phoning Edgars to follow up on the issue and again the lady said the same thing and that she was not sure when it would be fixed but that I should try to purchase later. I did try again later but much to my disappointment the website was still down.

I then emailed them again at 13h45 in the same email thread asking if anything was going to be done for those who now missed out on this opportunity they so happily advertised. The email response only came back today, 2nd April, at 14h58 stating that there was nothing that could be done as it was a once off 1 day deal. I am very disappointed in the customer service received and even more disappointed that no one bothered to keep me up to date or inform me if the issue had been resolved.

I am a working mother who works abnormal shifts so for me it is more convenient to shop online most times. If you advertise something for a certain date and it can end up being done online, it's only fair to expect the system to be working so that everyone can participate in the deal.
