Not a valued Edgars member!

A few months into this year I discovered that I pay my Edgars account but it seemed that I was always behind on payments. Initially, I contributed this to this account being a joint account up until I decided to pay the exact amount I owed so that the account will be on ZERO. This was 30 May 2017. On 10 July 2017 I received an sms stating "Please remember that payment on your Edcon Acc no.#### is due today. Even though this may seem a small amount". On 11 July I went into Edgars Wonderpark to inquire about this "small fee". I was told I owe R301.25. I asked them to please check again as I had paid off the account in May and had not used my account since then. I was then told that my account has an airtime subscription services with 3 different amounts which were debited every month (though not on the same day of each month). I was given an RMCS to call an query this. The next day I called, spoke to a female called Linda who said she would escalate the call. I again called on 13 July at 11:30 to check the status of the account. I spoke to Jabulani who gave me a reference number. On 14 July I received 6 sms (3 for cancellation, 3 for refund).

In my calls I asked for 1.proof of approval, 2. the number the airtime goes to, 3. for all the money to be credited, starting when the deductions started taking place 4. to get a statement posted to me as the ones I had been receiving on my phone had not been accessible (not opening).

In August I received a statement indicating that on 15 July the airtime subscription account was not charged. But I still owed R159.69. Even though I had not bought anything since paying off the account. I went to Edgars Brooklyn and was told that my previous inquiry would take up to 2 months so I should check then. On 25 September 2017, I received yet another sms stating "Please remember that payment on your Edcon Acc no.#### is due today. Even though this may seem a small amount". 27 September, I went to inquire in-store at Edgars Brooklyn. This inquiry lasted around 30 minutes. I was then given a reference number for the call and received 3 refund smses and told someone would contact me within 48 working hours. NO ONE CALLED!

On 9 October, I received an sms stating "To prevent further action being taken, please make an immediate payment on your Edcon Acc. no ####". 13 October at 15:30 I called and explained the situation. The lady by the name of Keabetswe, who explained that she could not help me with the whole matter but could send me my statements for the past year as I had not been receiving them. She said the rest of the matter I should call RMCS. On the same day I received the statements. I called RMCS and they said they couldn't assist and that I should call Edgars. On 17 October at 12:35 I called Edgars and spoke to Vuyiswa who let me know that only the late charge (R5.02) was reversed after my previous inquiry and that I still owe R158.80. She said that this amount was for the June airtime subscription. I explained the situation again and this time refused to call RMCS and asked her to please call and sort it out. I stayed on the line while she called. She got back to me saying that she spoke to Konanali at 12:45, gave me a reference number and told assured me that Konanali would get back to me within 48 working hours. A cancel product reference was also sent via sms. No one called in the entire 48hours instead on 18 October, 24 October and 25 October 2017, I received smses stating that "To prevent further action being taken, please make an immediate payment on your Edcon Acc. no ####"

This is honestly ridiculous. I have had this account for over 5 years, have made through payments and even referred some of my friends to open this account. What do I have to do to get answers?

Who requested and approved the airtime subscription? Which number did it go to (definitely not mine!) I have now been wasting my time, money and energy on this matter but still getting smses to pay something I don't know of, didn't request and can't get proof of where it came from! Dit is rerig genoeg!!

With all due respect, not the whole matter was logged in so it was not properly solved. The reference you are referring to is not one i posted. #######0571/GO #######1985 #######8857 And those are the few I have. I feel I have contacted Edgars enough without a response.

On 27 October, I received a response from Edgars on Hello Peter but I am unhappy with the response as it is a generic response which does not help my current situation. Current situation being something caused by EDGARS. on 27, 28 and 29 October I received four emails as I had sent emails to two edgars stores. The first two emails were an automated response to indicate that the email was received. The third email was one asking for my account number and the forth email was to let me know that my query had been forwarded to the RMCS for further assistance. The RMCS has not contacted me, instead I received my edgars monthly statement with fine print stating that "YOUR POOR PAYMENT HISTORY IS ON THE RECORD AT THE CREDIT BUREAUX AND IDENTIFIES YOU AS A SLOW PAYER" I AM EXTREMELY UNHAPPY with this process and will take this to the ombudsman for defamation of character should it be that the ERRORS done by EDGARS has tarnished my credit record. I sincerely hope this matter gets resolved soon.
