No one wants to take responsibility!

My hubby took out Cellphone insurance with Edgars a long time ago, he went into arrears with his account and paid off his account till it was up to date.

He was paying R40 a month for insurance that was advertised to us at an Edgars or CNA branch, we claimed about 2 or 3 times and never had any issues. A few years back after having the BlackBerry he got the Samsung S4, after about 3 years of having the phone it got ****** and he remembered that he had insurance with the Edgars, we followed the steps that we already knew and submitted a claim, which they DECLINED because apparently we did not inform them of the new phone and last listed phone was the black berry.

Please note that when he took this insurance they advertised it as R40 pm to insure your Cellphone, they not tell us to inform them whenever we changed our Cell phones. They expected us to keep the black berry for 10 years!

Today we called Finrite who apparently insures Cell phones for Edgars and when my husband spoke to the 1st consultant for a while and explained to her what was going on, she did not like what he had to say and just hung up on him, I called back and spoke to Nikita and apparently she says that the Edgars staff is at fault because it was their responsibility to inform us about the terms and conditions.

Now Finrite wants us to pay for +/-10 months premiums that we did not use as we cancelled the insurance on the same day that they DECLINED our claim at the store itself.

No one seems to want to talk responsibility for false advertising.

Please tell me why would we want to take out insurance with a company if we have to keep updating them on the new phones that we have. Most insurance company's cover you up to a certain value not on a specific phone as was advertised to us that for R40 pm we could be insured for up to R2000 or R3000 or R4000 not for us to specify the phones we have!

Very frustrated with Finrite and Edgars and this stage!!!
