And with this account my purpose was to build up a Credit Profile. But now this objective is marred because Edgars failed to be honest when I opened this account with them. Cause initially I was not informed that in the contract there is a third party insurance underwriter: nothing at all was mentioned about insurance. Instead I was introduced to an Egdar's Club which I agreed to subscribe to and I pay for every month: yet ever since I'm still waiting to receive one of their monthly Club magazines. And worse than that is: Edgars has never sent statements to me, whereas they have my email and postal addresses and my contact numbers. The only thing I received from Edgars was an SMS confirmation of my account approval, and the one specifying how to make payments during the Covid Lockdown. Therefore I was not aware that there is third party insurance included in the contract and how much its monthly premium is. The only thing I was duly informed of, is my monthly repayment of R80 into my account. Therefore it came as a surprise to me- five months later when I went to inquire about the status of my account, when I was told that my account is in arrears with a balance of more than the original cost of the item I took after signing the contract. And that's when they mentioned that insurance was included in the contract, and that because EDGARS is not the underwriter, therefore premiums are not included in the monthly installment I paid into my account. Meaning that all the monthly installments I paid, went into the insurance instead. But all these were not mentioned, neither did I knew the payable monthly insurance premium. I made attempt several times to tackle this matter with Edgars a result my account is in a bad state whereas.
