Is Edgars a small-anyana back door shop

I bought a bag for R549 cash -Forever New brand on the 15/11/2015 at Edgars Woodlands, but it is now damaged and since I stay close to Brooklyn, I returned it to the Edgars Brooklyn. I was told that for me to get back my money I have to go back to Edgars Woodlands else they Brooklyn store would just give me a voucher and I would have to buy a bag from Edgars or Forever New. That clearly means that I'm now forced to buy a bag from there. Why can't I be at liberty to say that I don't trust their bags anymore hence it tore after 3 months and I want to buy a bag that I like for that money elsewhere but value for money? I didn't say the bag must be damaged. Why should I be forced to now pay more for a bag if I happen to likebana a bag there? Why should I get my money from Woodlands when Edgars is a nationwide store that is well established? I never thought I'd ever have to have this discussion/argument with Edgars personnel. Had it bought this on credit, what was going to happen now?
