I opened a Edgars account in 2015 and every month a go to the closest branch ask what my instalment is and I pay whatever the cashier then tells me to pay. The last couple of month's I noticed that the balance doesn't really get any lower so yesterday I request a statement. To my shock I found that I have over R200 worth of insurance policies on my account. Anything from funeral plans to hospital plans. I phoned Edgars to find out who gave them permission to activate additional charger and according to them I activated this in 2015. I then requested the paper work I signed or voice recoding where I agreed to these policies but nobody can give me any proof. By this time I asked for a refund because R200 over a 3 year period should be well over R6000 on benefits I was not even aware of. The consult said they can only refund 3 month's according to him I was covered if something happened to me, my question is how would anybody have claimed these so called benefits if I didn't even know about these policies. Who would be beneficiaries for these policies or do they only take the money and never pays out because nobody claims? I requested something in writing why they only want to pay back 3 months and why they can't supply me any documents for these policies so I can get some legal advice. How many account holders are not in the same boat, paying thousands for policies that nobody knows about so nobody would claim them. I am discussed in the service.
