IMPLEMENTATION OF SERVICE FEE

I decided to check my statement on line last week.

Without any confirmation / agreement / acknowledgement from my side, Edgars decided to include a SERVICE FEE.

I've asked them to prove where I accepted this additional monthly charge!

I've sent emails // I've tried calling --- REPEATEDLY, all to no avail!!

I am so disappointed in Edgars. Their customer service and passion for their job is absolutely SHOCKING!

To a long standing Edgars card holder -------------- leaves a bitter taste in my mouth!

Pardon our late response to your email.

The Service fee is only charged to your account upon acceptance from you.

Having taken into consideration the rising costs to provide unsecured credit to our customers, both Edcon and the credit provider, Absa Bank Ltd have regrettably been compelled to amend our credit agreements to introduce a monthly service fee on our credit accounts. The NCA (Act No. 34 of 2005 Section 101(1)(c)) allows credit providers to charge monthly service fees of up to a maximum of R60,00. Although these fees were waived by Edcon in the past, it has unfortunately now become necessary to charge a small fee of R22.80, which is well below the prescribed maximum. Once you have accepted the change, the service fee forms part of our contract terms. Contracts cannot be changed unilaterally. That means you cannot cancel one of the terms of our agreement without our consent.”

In regards to your concerns we have referred your query to our regional credit office to address and resolve. Feedback confirming resolution to you query will be communicated back to you within the next 48 working hours.

1. I have, at no point in time EVER AGREED to this "service fee"!!!

2. Do not waste any more of my time with these empty, meaningless discussions.

On the 27th August, I went into store and closed my account and shredded my card!!
