EDGARS - WHY NOT GIVE YOUR CLIENTS WHAT THEY WANT?

I am a normally built SA male, 1.88 meters tall and pull the scale on 130kgs. I have been an Edgars client since 1976 and had credit facilities with the group for almost 50 years. They have always been a clothing store that gave their customers what they wanted and not what they got. But, since around 2005, apparently as we in South Africa sold out our textile industry bit by bit, sizes became an issue. Especially for bigger gents and ladies. Now Edgars once had a Penny Coelen range for the “bigger” woman as well as a Size Up range for their male clients. Even the shoe ranges had up to size 14 which made perfect sense as with the bigger body came bigger feet. Nevertheless, as we became more and more reliant on the Chinese imports so the sizes started to changes. An Xl all of a sudden became the large shirt and a ***L a XL. But going with that they never made a 5XL to be the “new” 3XL if you catch me drift. So the end of this “phenomenon” coming from China and nowhere else I simply cannot get me any shirt that fits over me mighty chest any longer. I at one stage thought I was out growing myself and then to my shock discovered that it was the sizes that shrunk. “ Look honey I shrunk the shirts”. So this is not a complaint but rather a plea to Edgars, and it’s not only the Edgars brand, and other clothing outlets to become more choosy when you purchase. Your buyers are doing your business no good but chasing many away. Why do we in RSA have to be satisfied with these sub-standard Chinese imports when we can bring our textile industry back? Quality of product with Edgars specifically are still much higher than other outlets but the sizes are ridiculous. Don’t know what other upsized citizens are doing, but I now ”import” clothing for myself as well as shoes. When you ask shop attendants they simply tell you that they sometimes might get one or two shirts but the “hang” for too long. Apparently the same with big shoe sizes. I regard this as absolute nonsense as many of my friends and people I know share the same disgust with imported sizes.

My account was "closed" sometime ago without me been informed or just even asked about. It was paid up for many years and I didn't do any transactions due to no sizes available that suits me. So maybe someone reads this and regard this as food for thought.

Makes one think to the some reasons why these retailers lately goes belly up.
