Edgar's stole my cell number with their ota service

Edgar's sent me an SMS to tell me about a deal where I would get r55 airtime a month for a small fee if I rep**** yes to an SMS. I did so and they then converted my number to a contract without me knowing. Fast forward to when I got my phone ****** two months ago and now I cannot get a new vodacom sim with my old phone number because I need a letter from Edgar's. I have been to three Edgar's and jet stores and nobody can help me get this corrected instead they forward me to an ota customer care number who promised to mail me the letter two months ago. I have been using the number for more than 10 years and it is now taken and kept with Edgar's somewhere this is very poor service Edgars I am looking at other legal streams to get this number back as you cannot force me into one of your silly contracts and take my number as if you own it
