Edgars ****
Hello Peter Edgars consultants are ****s
In December 2019 I opened an account at Edgars In Beacon bay, East London. I recently got employed so I thought I should open an account at a store so that I can build a credit record. I specified to the consultant who was helping me that I want a 6 months account that has no Interest, and I do not want to join any club or funeral Insurances as I am planning keep the costs minimal. She told me that as part of the account activation process I must open at least 4 different funeral Insurances and 2 clubs which I can be able to cancel after 3 months, and when I cancel all my premiums will be reversed. I figured that I have nothing to lose so I might as well open the funeral Insurances and join the clubs At the end of December, I did not receive my account statement, then I had to request for It from their customer services In January when I had to make my first payment. Indeed, they emailed my statement and I realized that the lady opened a 12 months plan with an Interest of 20.50% PA which Is not what I requested for. I called their customer services again and that told me that I will have to pay off the account in order to change It to the account type that I requested for. I was at the store ready to pay off my account when I found that I am owing R882.10 of which I had purchased Items that cost R430.89 at the store. I had to call the customer services again, they explained that most of the money was coming from the insurances and the clubs that I was forced to join, the person who was assisting me explained that I did not have to open any of the insurances or join any club if I did not want to. I asked them to cancel the all the funeral Insurances and clubs and assist me with regards to my account type, she assured me that they will cancel all the clubs and insurances and escalate the “account type” matter.
later that week I received an SMS stating that R117.75 will be reversed on my account and I did not understand what Is It for because It cannot be the premiums of the Insurances and clubs as they add up to a total of R342.34. Earlier on this week I received an SMS stating that my Installment for 1st of February Is R289.54 and I cannot continue to pay for products that I did not request for. I payed my installment in January as I realized that this matter cannot be solved in a few days so let me give them a month to fix it and this matter has not been resolved yet because when I called them today (29/01/2020) they told me that I have to pay up my account which has a balance of R689.65 This does not only affect me financially, but I am afraid that It will affect my credit record which I was still trying to build for my future. I am so disappointed with edgars and the service that they provided me with .
