Edgars Lack of urgency in ***** case.
I have been an Edgars account holder for over 20 years and have never once reneged on a payment. Acc # ****************** On Wednesday the 8th Feb 2020, I called in to close my account as I no longer need an account. My account was fully paid and zero amount owing. I was informed by the agent that it would take a few days to close the account. Why???Subsequent to that, I received an sms from Edgars informing me my credit limit had been approved and I must send through a copy of my ID number which I did not do as I had not requested a credit increase, but an account closure. On Sunday afternoon (09/02/2020) around 4pm , i received an SMS to say 2 transactions had gone though on my account totaling around R9k. I immediately phoned the ***** department and disputed these transactions. i was told to go in to my nearest edgars branch the following day and fill out a dispute form. First thing Monday Morning (10/02/20) I went to the pavilion branch in Westville Kzn and filled out a dispute form. I was told the 2 purchases had happened in Centurion (I live In Durban) at 2 different Edgars stores and that my card had been cloned, the signatures on the system were not even close to resembling my signature. I was informed that it would be investigated and resolved in 30 days. It is now 3 and a half months later, I am receiving monthly invoices showing that I am still owing around R9k and am getting phoned and sms'd 3-5 times a day to demand payment on my outstanding account. I have explained to every single agent that there was ***** on my account and I am not due to pay this as it is being investigated. Most of the agents are extremely rude and demanding and have now resorted to phoning my mother (who was listed as next of kin when I opened my account) and demanding the payment. I called the ***** department back on Saturday the 23/05/2020 and was told my dispute form had been received on the 13/02/2020 but was still being investigated. Surely a note can be put on the system for me (and my mother) to not be harassed by your accounts department while your team of investigators drags their heels at resolving the ***** on my account? Why has a 30 day investigation turned into a 120 day investigation? My countless emails and phone calls are ignored, or I am simply told there is a backlog of ***** cases and it will be resolved as soon as possible. Please can a manager contact me urgently and give me an update on what is happening with this case and why it is taking so long to resolve.
