Edgars is not giving importance to customers

Good day,

I have below 3 complaints against edgars.

1. Edgars charged me late payment fee which is unfair. I agree you can charge this reasonably like I said even before, you have to look at the account holder the way I am managing the account. I am edgars account holder for more that 10 years, whats the point of this now. I think in these 10 years I might have missed payment for 2-3 times for some reasons, was overseas etc

2. One of my friend presented my boy a edgars gift card worth of R500 and there is no money it, My friend he bought that card using his bank card, but he went to branch in capetown as he lives in capetown, they said we must go the branch purchased or call customer, we both called customer care and no joy, and I went to boulders branch, they said my friend must come as he is the one who purchased it, how can my friend come from capetown for this issue. I have approximate date of purchase and I am sure 1000's of people will not buy R500 gift cards in those dates and it should be easy for edgars to track as i am giving the branch name as well which is Boulders in midrand. I am sure edgars have very good technical team to easily track, I can supply with my gift card details also if edgars willing to assist.

3. Account fee, Why should i pay this all of a sudden and I only came to know when i went to store yesterday. Why edgar's didn't send smss or gave call, If that's still the case and compulsary, I don't mind closing my account. Edgar's should also keep in mind that there is H&M stores newly launched in South africa as competetors to Edgars with good quality, I will rather go buy there.

I am edgars account holders since ages, but I dont know all of a sudden, services became worst like this. not sure if this improve soon. I hope edgars will get time to look into my complaints, if not i will straightly go to stores to close my account by paying outstanding amount due.

We must apologise for the delayed response.

Please be advised with regards to the late payment fee your query was attended to by the account management team on the 23/06/2016.

Please provided us with the gift card number for resolution.

Please note that the service fee will not be levied to your account without your authorisation. Although it has become necessary to charge a service fee, we have taken the plight of our customers into consideration and discounted this fee to R22.80 per month which equates to R273.60 yearly as opposed to the prescribed maximum fee of R60 allowed per month by the NCA (R720 yearly) .

As noted within the letter , your consent will be required when next purchasing in store and should you wish to decline the implementation of the service fee, Edcon reserves the right to action your account accordingly.

You have been a longstanding customer and we thank you for your patronage and hope that you will continue to be part of the Edcon family.

Your reference number is ***/GO

Kind regards,
Edcon customer experience team,
