Edgars - Charging a Service Fee to Thank-u Account Holders
<p>I have held a 6-month interest free Edgars account for 30 years. With a R44.00 per month Club Fee and now also the non-beneficial Service fee initially pegged at R22.00 per month , holding this account simply no longer affords real value. It is more expensive to run than a credit card with less transactional benefit. Credit cards further offer more competitive interest rates. Also excessive pricing and lack of range to brand offerings leaves shopping at Edgars wanting. With the economy and households under pressure, the decision to add a Service fee to 6 or even 12-month plans is not prudent. There are many other competitors in the market, I for one will vote with my wallet.</p>

The National Credit Act (NCA) allows for Credit Providers to charge a Service Fee on accounts. This fee is used by the Credit Provider to manage the administration of the Credit Book and other applicable expenses.
